In November 2002, the College celebrated the 80th Birthday of Maestro Ali Akbar Khan. It was a moment to pay tribute to this luminary figure of Indian classical music, give thanks to him for his many years of dedicated service to music lovers all over the world and also to remember the Colleges’ mission to continue this great tradition in the future.
In addition to the annual seminar and concert, the College hosted a reception in which some of Basel’s cultural and political dignataries thanked the Maestro for his many years of contributions to the cultural life of Basel.
The College also presented Dr. Khan with a plaque for this special occasion:
